Off the needles, into a soak bath, jump to the blocking board, severe stretching & pinning and VOILÀ.....Perfection.
I love blocking day, its like the BIG reveal. Much like the caterpillar to the butterfly. The day that manifests all the long hours spent, perfecting each stitch, counting each repeat.... turns into a beautiful piece of wearable art. Can't lie.... love the wearing part, all you need is a good scarf or wrap to "tszuj" up any outfit.
Cathay Lace Wrap is a breathy filigree lace pattern framed in an accentuated ric-rac border. I wanted to highlight its wispy nature with a light and airy yarn. Cathay is knit with Anzula Meridian Lace yarn. Meridian is a blend of 55% Tencel, 35% Alpaca, 10% Nylon and comes in 812 yard (742 m) hanks.
Cathay Lace Wrap is available in two widths, 20" and 25" for wider version giving it a feel of a pashmina wrap. The model is the 25" wider wrap. The pattern gives instructions on how to estimate yardage needed for the ending border, to insure no tears or running out of yarn before the border is completed. I've been there and its the worst.
The Cathay pattern is available on Ravelry and LoveKnitting.com.

On the needles.... a new Baby Blanket design and a gift for a Baby Shower. I was hoping to get a new lace design on the needles, until I learned that the Baby Shower was moved up from early October to Early September. Baby Blankets it is!
Until next time......
Happy Knitting!
Yes, I love blocking too. There was some discussion recently on FB about whether blocking is 'really necessary'. For me, yes, every time! !
