A new Knitting Buzz Designs Reversible Baby Blanket Pattern that is chock-full of textural interest with a dash of playfulness in a new yarn.
This whimsical pattern is apt to play tricks on your eyes. On first glance.... do your see kites? (a diamond pattern) OR do you see pinwheels? (four triangles in a rectangle connected in the center)???
Either way, with a little closer inspection you will see the other.
This pattern is completely reversible. I love reversible designs...no matter how its draped or wrapped it always looks fantastic. Kites & Pinwheels Baby Blanket Pattern is available @ Ravelry.com
Kites & Pinwheels Baby Blanket pattern is knit with a DK/Sport weight yarn.
The sample was knit with Cascade Yarns Anchor Bay Yarn, 50% Cotton 50% Superwash Merino Wool, 262 yards in color Aqua #12. It took 4 skeins or 1025 yards for a 30" x 30" size. This yarn is great for the new Mom, because its machine care....wash cool and tumble dry.
Anchor Bay is new to me. This was the first time that I have knit with this DK weight yarn. Overall, I rate my experience as Very Good. Anchor Bay is very soft, combining both cotton and superwash merino in one yarn was brilliant, and keeping it easy to care for is a must for our future heirlooms. The label recommends using needle sizes US# 6 - 7, I differed here and used a US# 5, to achieve the desired texture. Even with the smaller needle, it maintained its soft touch and offered good stitch definition to show off the pattern and the beautiful texture. Did I mention, Anchor Bay also comes in a beautiful array of colors.
The Anchor Bay quadruple bonus....
- soft & cuddly,
- beautiful colors,
- creates beautiful texture and
- easy care.
The perfect combination for a Baby Blanket....Sweet!
I will definitely use Anchor Bay on future projects!
Until next time......Happy Knitting!
