Many times, OK, most times projects invariably are determined by an excessive stash or a newly purchased yarn that we just had to have.
I'm no different. There was a time when I made a lot of socks, which meant I bought a lot of sock/fingering weight yarn. It is said.... that sock yarn doesn't count as stash. Its easy, there are so many beautiful hand-dyed yarns available AND you only need one hank AND it doesn't count. Most of these hand-dyes grab our attention because of the numerous color combinations that are so hard to resist.
Unable to resist? I'm guilty as charged. And it doesn't count....right?
It doesn't count UNTIL..... you don't make as many socks as you once did and your friends continue to buy you sock yarn in hopes of a hand-knit pair of wonderful wooly socks. Then it begins to pile up.
A hank of sock/fingering weight yarn does make lovely socks BUT it also is just enough yarn to make a quick lacy scarf (quicker than socks) to add to your accessory bundle.
A lacy scarf knit with a colorful fingering weight yarn looks best if its a very open pattern that allows the yarn, as well as, the lace pattern to be showcased.
Nearly ready to publish, I have a new design that has a few edging options. Stay tuned ......
But until then and eager to get started..... here are a few patterns that work similarly
Scarves are my favorite accessory. It makes even jeans and a plain t-shirt look dressed up. My little man, Xander, refers to me as a fancy woman. And for those of you who know me, know I'm not.....just someone with lots and lots of scarves.
In my humble opinion.....there is NO such thing as TOO MANY scarves.
Until next time....
Happy Knitting!!!!
