Sanibel Reversible Baby Blanket. To me, this blanket has an "Old World-ish" - "Victorian" - "Downton Abbey" feel. This blanket is destined to be a timeless heirloom.
The four sides are graced with a shell border with beautiful scalloped edges. The center is a handsome garter stitch and the entire piece can be knit as a square or rectangular blanket. And its reversible!
Sanibel is knit with a DK/Sport weight yarn, but could easily be adapted to knit in any yarn weight. It can also be knit in larger sizes, simply by increasing the pattern in 20 stitch increments.
The model (pictured) was knit in Cascade 220 Superwash Sport in colorway Aran Natural. Its 100% Superwash merino wool, 136 yards and used 1025 yards, or 7.5 hanks. This yarn is perfect for new mothers because its completely machine care. This pattern does not require any blocking, unless desired. Sweet!
The Sanibel Reversible Baby Blanket Pattern is available on www.Ravelry.com. This pattern is knit in two halves then grafted together in the center, a Tutorial is provided with the pattern instructions on how to do this. Its easier than it sounds....I promise.
Until next time......
Happy Knitting!
