I knit year-round. But there is something about summer knitting...its like vacation knitting....a time to try new things.....or catch up on favorites...
- Its early enough to not have to start holiday gift knitting, it can be all about YOU.
- Its warm enough to think about small light weight delicate projects in lovely light fiber blends like linen, tencel, silk and even rayon......lacey wraps and scarves are always a go-to project for me.
- If lace isn't your thing (oh the horror, just kidding), its also a great time to catch up on sock knitting which is so portable and easy to have on-hand or make a quick shell or tank out of some of the gorgeous linen blends.
- If you feel guilty knitting for yourself, then its the perfect time to get a jump on knitting hats for your loved ones; hats are small and portable just like socks.
- It can also be a time to challenge yourself, whether its technique driven or just the challenge to create something from your stash.....
And that is the challenge I'm taking......
The yarn that is taunting me in my stash....
I have a beautiful 100% cultivated silk yarn that has been in my stash for at least 7 years. I have swatched with it and started projects with it, but never was happy with the the results. I like the yarn, but just couldn't make it work for me. This summer I am determined to knit something to my liking.
The yarn is Kaalund Yarns Enchante, lace weight yarn, hand dyed in Austrailia, 100% cultivated silk, 30 grams, 301 meters or 330 yards, color Taipan and I have 3 balls.
This is my challenge! My summer quest! (Sounds so dramatic, right?)
More soon.....
Happy Knitting!
