I have a thing for hand-painted pottery from around the world. My favorites are from, but certainly not limited to those from Morroco, Germany, Poland, Denmark and the Pacific Rim. I tend to lean toward more graphic/geometric designs and love the whimsy of mixing and matching different the schemes together. For me, it all seems to just work.
I like collecting serving pieces and accessories, rather than actual dinnerware. I have lots of different pieces, but one of my favorites is a piece that my sister, Anne gave me.....an adorable teapot ..... I love it and use all the time.
What does this have to do with knitting?
- Well I am a sucker for mesh-y lacey knitted fabrics for wraps and scarves.
- When I look at the pottery, I can see pulling out a pattern to create a mesh lace fabric.
- I am dying to work with Isager Spinni Wool 1 Yarn that is a bit courser in nature and may be ideal for a mesh style knitted lace.
Why not incorporate the the "feel" or "flavor" of the pottery into a mesh lace design for a wrap and scarf...... sounds PERFECT to me!
Stay tuned..... will share what I come up with soon.....
Happy Knitting!
