With two baby blankets complete and published, I am focusing my efforts on knitting a lacy wrap to coordinate with the crystal earriings I got on vacation.
They are a periwinkle color and I own absolutely own nothing that color.
Hence.....I NEED a lacy wrap.
The yarn I chose was a periwinkle colored laceweight from Alisha Goes Around, Marmalade Lace Yarn, 100% Fine Superwash Wool, in the color Actium. I'm not really sure what Actium has to do with this color, but to me its still periwinkle.
I have decided to make this wrap extra wide and extra long, approximately 30" x 80" blocked. I have 2 hanks or 1900 yards, so I should have plenty of yarn to knit with.
Thats right, 1900 yards, thats is over a mile of yarn (a mile = 1760 yards). Sounds like I will be at this for awhile. Honestly, I'm certain I can get the wrap and an additional lacy scarf out of the yardage.
Hey... two possible options for the sparkly earrings. What will I WANT next? Periwinkle shoes?
Enough.....
I have started the initial work on the pattern and have come up with a design I have been working on for some time, but just couldn't seem to get it right, until NOW.
This first picture is the pattern without any blocking and like any unblocked lace it has a very rumpled look.
So I did what I call a "cheaters block". While still on the needles, got my piece wet and stretched it out on the blocking board. This allows me to check it in a slightly larger format than my initial swatching.
Of course, this is still a preliminary look. But it definitely on its way.
I really wish I could better predict when it will be finished, but I tend to be a victim of my own wandering or distractions. Stay focused, stay focused, stay focused.........
Happy Knitting!
